This is a rare find of an early 20th century pharmacy stoneware mortar and pestle. Mortar base impressed with mark “T M & S Warranted Acid Proof” and the Wood handled pestle head not marked. Very good antique condition for its age. No chips, cracks on mortar, & it is heavy.
Mortar diameter at the top is 7 1/4"”. Base diameter is 4 1/2”. Height is 4” and a little over 1/2" thick rounded rim at top.
Pestle length is 11.5”, with 2 3/4” thickness at smooth rounded end.
Beautiful hand turned wooden pestle, with nice patina aged marks.
Very good vintage antique condition with wear consistent with age.
Great for cooks, or as an accent piece, heavy-duty.
